Recently Ravebo were requested by Iver Ships to mobilize an engineer to three of their vessels to carry out the annual calibration & certification of equipped 15PPM bilge alarms. This was to be performed in the port of Augusta, which is in the far south of Italy on the Sicilia island.

Iver Ships is a subsidiary of the worldwide vessel owner Vroon which have their Headquarters in The Netherlands.

First vessel to attend was the MV Iver Balance on which we were requested to calibrate the 15PPM bilge alarm, followed by the MV Iver Action which is additionally equipped with an ODME. Next day our engineer attended to the MV Iver Bitumen to calibrate another 15PPM bilge alarm in order to finalize this service visit.

The crew onboard as well as office staff were very satisfied with the performed service and the along thinking mentality of Ravebo’s service staff in order to arrange three vessels being done at the same port call.

When carrying out the calibration on a 15PPM Bilge alarm, below process is followed by our engineer:
1. Testing with clean water, to adjust 0PPM
2. Testing with test liquid, to see if unit recognizes >15PPM correctly
3. Testing again with clean water, to see if unit recognizes 0PPM correctly after >15PPM
4. Perform a simulation test (i.e. testing if overboard valve is triggered and closed at >15PPM)
5. Checking of the sensor unit, manually done by our engineer
